Review: Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion

Saturday, February 13

A while back, the people at Skin MD Natural asked me if I would like to review their shielding lotion. Since I'm always searching for good products, and theirs sounded pretty good, I said yes.

Basically, this lotion acts as a shield to keep out irritants and whatnot, and to keep moisture in. Their website has much more detailed and scientific things to say about this lotion, but I figure you're not here for the science, right? Let me just tell you: it works. I absolutely love this lotion. It's unscented, though, really, is anything ever completely unscented? It's got a very subtle scent to it that I imagine is from one or more of the ingredients in the lotion. The scent doesn't try to compete with my perfume or anything, though, which is great.

The formula itself is really nice, too. Rather than being a heavy cream like most lotions, it's a light, almost gel-like substance. You just take a tiny, tiny bit and it goes a long way. Seriously. I took a drop smaller than a dime, and it covered both of my hands, and most of my arms.

Now, the bottle recommends reapplying every 2-8 hours, but I always forget. I usually just apply it at night, and it really helps to soothe my hands, which have been dried out from writing in class all day/crazy cold winds.

Now, honestly, if I saw this bottle in a store, I probably wouldn't pick it up. It's very..official looking. But that's good! It shows that they're really into their product, and don't need frou-frou packaging to get their point across.

Now, would I buy this myself? I'm not sure. It's pretty expensive for such a small bottle of lotion. Would I recommend it, though? Yes, especially for during this brutal winter most of us are having.
