OPI You're A Doll!

Tuesday, July 27

This polish is perfection. If I had to pick only five polishes to wear for the rest of my life, this would definitely be one of them. Thank goodness I don't have to be limited like that, though! I'd probably go crazy, haha. I don't think I could ever pick just five polishes!

You're A Doll! is such an interesting color. It's a weird taupey lavender pink creme that sometimes leans gray. Oh, and it has strange red flecks in it. Odd, right? But it's so pretty!

I definitely encourage you to enlarge the pictures to see the fantastic red flecks.

So, tell me, what are some of your Desert Island Top 5 Polishes? (Honestly, though, who could ever wear only five polishes? Crazy!)

Nail Polish Stash: Part Three

Saturday, July 10

Click here for the rest of the series.

Taken from Part One: I recently decided to reorganize my polish, since I no longer know how many I own, what colors I own, etc. So, in a way, this series of posts is to help keep me organized. But it's also for you all! If you see anything in these posts that you want to see more of, let me know, and I'll swatch it for you. :] (EDIT: Some photos are clickable, some aren't. I'm not really sure why this is happening, and I've tried to fix it, but nothing seems to work. Sorry!)

I actually only own a few Avon polishes, and I haven't worn the rest of them in years. This was actually a fairly recent acquisition. I might consider buying more, if the rest of them are as nice as this. Application was decent, wear was decent, and it was nice and shiny. When I bought this polish, I had been lemming a great, candy pink, and that's exactly what this is.
But seriously, though, this polish is impossible to capture. The color is so bright! My camera reacted to it like it would react to a neon. Meaning, not well! The second picture, which was taken in direct sunlight, is a much more accurate depiction of the color.

China Glaze Something Sweet.

Tuesday, June 22

Oh, this polish.. I wanted to love it. I really did. I mean, sure, I love the color, which manages to be delicate and mod at the same time. But application and wear were both horrendous. It took so many coats to even it out and get it smooth, and then, due to the massive amounts of coats, it chipped so fast. I only have one other polish from the Up & Away collection, Grape Pop, which I haven't tried yet. I'm kind of a bit nervous to try it, to be quite honest. I don't want another application disaster like I had with this one.

China Glaze, cremes are not your strong suit. Just saying.

Review: OPI La Paz-itively Hot and Diamond Cosmetics mini-haul.

Saturday, January 23

I put this on on Thursday night. I wasn't really feeling this color when I first put it on. I even thought about taking it off and replacing it with something darker. It was about one in the morning, though, so I decided I'd just leave it. I'm happy I did. I actually really, really like it. At first, I wasn't sure if it worked with my skintone. I think it does, though.

La Paz-itively Hot is bright fuchsia with a subtle blue-violet flash. Really ostentatious and pretty. Application was so-so. Fairly streaky, but I managed to even it out. I did two coats, because I knew I wouldn't be going in public this weekend, so I wasn't really concerned about VNL, of which there is quite a bit. Three coats probably would have fixed this, but whatever. As pretty as this is, I still want to try the matte version. It looks awesome.

Oh, and I apologize for the horrible cleanup job. Like I said, I wasn't going out in public this weekend, so I didn't really take the time to make this look amazing, haha.

All pictures taken with flash, indoors. I apologize for the huge chip in my index finger in the last picture and the chip on my thumb, but I had to take the picture. This polish perfectly matches my Cheshire Cat pillowcase! I love it.

On another note, my Diamond Cosmetics order came today! I was shocked to find it in my mailbox, because according to FedEx, it wasn't going to be here until Tuesday. Actually, FedEx has been weird throughout this whole shipping process. For some reason, my package shipped from its origin point in south Florida, to Orlando, Florida, to Atlanta, then to here. I live in Florida. I don't see why it had to bypass me by hundreds of miles, only to come right back this way. Oh, well. It's here now! These colors are so, so pretty. I want to wear them all right now, but I'm not going to, because I already decided on wearing SOPI Brainiac for next week, and I don't want to have one of these beauties on for only one day.

Review: China Glaze Strawberry Fields

Thursday, December 3

Oh, this color. It's absolutely gorgeous, isn't it? This is China Glaze Strawberry Fields. It's this amazing hot pink with lovely gold shimmer that catches the light and just shines. This is, I think, three coats (I don't quite remember. This is my manicure from Sunday and Monday.), with one coat of Seche Vite. That stuff is amazing, isn't it? Application, like most China Glazes, was pretty smooth. The color was pretty hard to capture on my camera, though. It's sort of in between those two pictures. Not quite as pink as the first one, but not as salmony as the second. The gorgeous gold shimmer showed up in the second picture, though. Isn't it amazing? (First picture taken in natural light, second taken in artificial light, no flash for either.)

Review: Chanel 493 Jade Rose

Friday, November 27

Oh, this polish. We have a love-hate relationship. I had such a lemming for this polish, and I finally managed to snag a bottle on ebay. It arrived promptly, and the moment I saw it, I was in love. It's the perfect nude pink, and I love how it's almost the exact color of my skin. It's so, so pretty.

However. The formula is kind of not all that great. It felt thin to me, and I kept getting bubbles. I had to reapply about three times (which is why the bottle looks so, well, empty), and I suppose third time's a charm, because this was the end result.
Four coats, one coat of Seche Vite. I was really upset about how much polish I wasted, but practice makes perfect I suppose. Honestly, though, I am kind of thinking that the application problems are my fault. I've been having issues with painting my nails lately, mainly because I haven't been getting proper sleep due to stress and am quite shaky and impatient. Despite the issues I had with application, I love this polish. I wish I had a dupe for you but trust me, I looked everywhere, and there really isn't one. The closest I found was Cover Girl Queen Collection polish in Rose Petals. But that's much more of a frost than a shimmer. Oh, speaking of which. Jade Rose has a very pretty shimmer in it, but that shimmer didn't transfer very well to my nails. You can see it in certain lights, and it's lovely.
(Both pictures are taken with flash, indoors. Also, note that these pictures were taken after three days of wear.
